To effectively cake the sludge generated in civil engineering and construction, especially the sludge contg. hydraulic cement, by admixing a caking agent contg. at least sodium silicate with the cement-contg. sludge, then granulating or lumping the caked material.
When the sludge generated in civil engineering and consturction is caked, a caking agent contg. at least sodium silicate is admixed with the sludge contg. cement, and the admixture is caked, granulated or lumped. In this case, the cement content in the sludge is appropriately controlled to ≥3wt.%, and 1-30kg of sodium silicate is added to 100kg of the sludge. A hydrophilic acrylic polymer is used as the caking agent and added by 0.01-2kg, expressed in terms of the pure component, to 100kg of the sludge. A water-soluble acrylic polymer or a partially cross-linked hydrophilic acrylic polymer having a webbing property is used as the acrylic polymer.
