To provide a rotary snowplow capable of improving the efficiency of snow removal work.
A method for controlling a rotary snowplow 1 including an auger 2 and a blower 3 measures the rotational frequency of the blower 3, the rotational frequency of the auger 2, the load of the blower 3 and the load of the auger 2, calculates the amount of snow removed by the blower 3 from the measured values of the rotational frequency and load of the blower 3, calculates the amount of snow conveyed by the auger 2 from the measured values of the rotational frequency and load of the auger 2, compares the amount of snow removal with the amount of conveyed snow, and the rotation of the auger 2 is controlled so as to achieve an amount of conveyance required for the amount of snow removal. Then, by calculating a target auger rotational frequency and controlling the auger rotational frequency by a method of approximately calculating "snow removal" and "amount of conveyance" in response to change of load associated with the amount of snow accumulation and/or the property of snow, the waste of auger output consumption is minimized and the snow removal capacity of the rotary snowplow 1 is efficiently exercised.
