To provide a method for calculating a position of a camera device, capable of simply calculate the position of the camera device in a CG coordinate system without using a special tool, and also applicable to the camera device that can not be moved.
The method has the steps of: setting two points whose positions in the CG coordinate system are known; imaging a first point with the camera device; calculating a position of the first point in a camera device coordinate system based on a pan angle, a tilt angle of the camera device, and a height of a television camera in imaging of the first point; imaging a second point with the camera device; calculating a position of the second point in the camera device coordinate system based on a pan angle, a tilt angle of the camera device, and the height of the television camera in imaging of the second point; calculating a rotational angle of the CG coordinate system to the camera device coordinate system from the positions of the first and second points in the camera device coordinate system; and calculating the position of the camera device in the CG coordinate system based on the rotational angle.
