To solve such a problem that while the driving system of a rolling mill is protected, the production efficiency of the rolling mill is lowered as the result that, because the prediction of peak torque which is impactively generated in the driving system including a spindle of the rolling mill when a rolled stock is bitten is difficult as compared with a steady torque which is predicted comparatively easily, a method by which the generation of excessive torque is prevented, the accident of the driving system of the spindle for rolling mills is prevented and its life is prolonged is adopted by taking safety into account and setting its constraint condition value on the low side.
The maximum torque at the time when the rolled stock is bitten is estimated, the estimated maximum torque at the time when the rolled stock is bitten is compared with the allowable torque value of the driving system of the rolling mill and a pass schedule is adjusted so that the maximum torque when the rolled stock is bitten is not more than the allowable torque value of the driving system of the rolling mill.
