To provide a method capable of relatively easily securing the actual precise positioning in which a yarn feeder pivoted and introduced into a predetermined operating position is actually positioned precisely in the desired position, in splicing events necessary during the regular winding process from time to time.
The yarn feeder 30 for calibration of its pivoting stroke from a zero position I set by a sensor is pivoted until it is in abutment with a stopper 18, 20 arranged outside a regular pivoting stroke of the yarn feeder 30. The number of operation steps performed by a step motor 36 is counted during the pivoting events, and compared with the number of times in which it is set as a reference value of an operation step. A correction factor is formed by the comparison. In the subsequent pivoting events necessary during the regular winding operation in the course of splicing events, exact positioning of the yarn feeder 30 in a prescribed operation position is ensured during the pivoting process by taking the correction factor into account.
