To provide a method for calibrating a write head for producing a printing plate by which an image forming system can be quickly and simply adjusted without errors based on test exposure.
The method for calibrating a write head for producing a printing plate is carried out as follows: test patterns that can be visually evaluated with regard to the writing quality are produced in a plurality of test fields 41 with various different parameter values; an identifier 42 that can be visually picked up is produced with each test field; the identifier of the test field which appears best in terms of quality is inputted to a control device for the write head; the parameter value is automatically adjusted based on the input of the identifier for producing a plate; and a test field which appears best in terms of quality is produced by the parameter.
