To provide a method of carrying a base material into a heat treatment furnace while suppressing the wrinkling of the base material due to an atmospheric temperature gap between the inside and the outside of the heat treatment furnace and a temperature gap between the base material and a guide roll, and to provide the heat treatment furnace.
The method comprises carrying the sheet base material 3 into a heating chamber 11 of a curing furnace 10 and applying heat treatment on a coating layer formed on the surface of the base material 3 while carrying the base material 3 to be wound on guide rolls 14, 15 provided in the heating chamber 11. The base material 3 is first wound on the first upper stage side guide roll 14A provided in the heating chamber 11 right near a base material carry-in part 17 and the coating layer is put in contact with the first upper stage side guide roll 14A. In the curing furnace 10, the first upper stage side guide roll 14A is formed as a concave roll with a recessed base material contact surface.
