To provide a method for casting a chilled cast iron-made cam shaft with which a casting process can be simplified and the shape of a chiller metal is freely selected and heat resistance on a mold surface can be improved without damaging the characteristic (collapsibility etc.) of an organic-mold in the mold (or a core) exposed to high temperature and the burnt-sticking of the chiller metal can be prevented.
The method for casting the chilled cast iron-made cam shaft has the following processes: (a) a process for forming the basic mold with an aggregate and a first organic binder; (b) regarding to the basic mold for chilled cast iron-made cam shaft, a process for setting the chiller from the back surface of the mold; and (c) a process for setting a single shaped chiller into the basic mold in the above (b).
