Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the inexpensive production of a high grade alloy steel sensitive to cracking without errors by calculating the straightening force for the minimum deformation necessary for unbending a steel strand from an arcuate shape to a horizontal shape with a multipoint bending device by taking high-temperature material characteristic into consideration.
CONSTITUTION: The straightening force for correcting the curved steel strand is calculated under the conditions of limiting the stress produced at this time in such a manner that the stress may be absorbed without parting of the steel matrix. The resulted high-temperature material characteristics are assigned to the strand temperature and are detected via the cross-sectional surface of the strand in the range of the straightening point. Such detection is executed by measuring, for example, the surface temp. of the strand and calculating the temperature gradient over the cross-sectional surface of the strand in accordance therewith. The straightening force is calculated by taking the casing conditions and strand formed into consideration. The straightening force is necessary for unbending the strand to a horizontal shape.
