Abstract:

To provide a means for surely detoxifying organic chlorine compounds such as PCB, dioxins, and tri/tetrachloroethylene with harmless residual substances.

Dechlorination of organic chlorine compounds such as PCB, dioxins, and tri/tetrachloroethylene is accelerated under the ordinary pressure at room temperature by the oxidation of magnesium and hydrogen chloride; and the efficiency of hydrogenation of the organic chlorine compounds is enhanced by catalytic reduction with Raney nickel and hydrogen generated by the reaction of magnesium and hydrogen chloride.
