Abstract:

PURPOSE: In subjecting a cell to suspension culture, to carry out the cultivation in an industrial scale in high density efficiently, by feeding a fluorocarbon having dissolved oxygen to a culture system.

CONSTITUTION: As a new medium is continuously fed from the line 1 to a system wherein a cell (preferably animal cell such as mouse × mouse hybridoma, etc.) is cultivated in a suspension state, an old culture solution is taken out from the line 4, and a fluorocarbon (preferably one liquid at normal temperature, such as perfluorodecalin, etc.) having dissolved oxygen is suspended as drops of liquid from the line 5 and recovered from the line 6, so that the culture is carried out while feeding oxygen.
