Abstract:

To provide a chamfering method which is excellent in working accuracy and also inexpensive in the cost of equipment.

This method for chamfering rolls of a rolling mill includes: a stage where the rolling mill 4 on which a plurality of rolls 12 having a caliber, flanges and joined parts situated between the caliber and the flanges are mounted is positioned; a stage where a cutting tool 34 is fixed to a cutting tool holder 32 making the center of the cutting tool 34 to coincide with the rolling axis L1 which is passed through the center of the rolling hole of the rolling mill 4 and parallel to the rolling direction and a stage where the joined parts of the rolls 12 are chamfered by pushing the cutting tool 34 against the plurality of the rolls 12 at the same time in a rolling shaft direction while rotating the plurality of the rolls 12. In a three-roll type rolling mill 4, the cutting tool 34 is a shape of a regular triangle the three sides of which are parallel to the rotating shaft of the respectively opposing rolls 12 and the centers of which are on the rolling axis on a parallel plane to the rotating shafts of the three rolls 12. The three sides of this regular triangle are blade parts for chamfering the respectively opposing joined parts.
