PURPOSE: To provide a multi-stage constant current charging method for detecting the charging voltage of a sealed lead-acid battery, in which lead- calcium-tin alloy is used for a grid of a plate, and for changing the current value and for finishing charging with a timer, which can stabilize the quantity of charging power of each stage and which can prolong the lifetime of a battery and which can improve the reliability, by reducing the influence of the charging acceptance and a difference between each cell chamber.
CONSTITUTION: In a method for charging a sealed lead-acid battery 1 with the multi-stage constant current, the charging current of the first stage is set at 0.4CA or less, and the charging current (In) of the second stage and the following stage is set at i1>in+1>in+2, and the charging period (Tn) is set at T1<Tn+1<Tn+2 (n>1), and the detection value of the charging voltage of the battery is set at 2.32V/cell-2.37V/cell.
