Abstract:
To provide a cleaning method applicable to an ordinary reaction vessel not pressure-resistant, capable of thoroughly cleaning crosslinked matter or gel derived from an acrylic copolymer, under a milder condition.
The method of cleaning a reaction vessel for removing deposits derived from a thermoplastic acrylic copolymer present in a stainless steel reaction vessel wherein the thermoplastic acrylic copolymer has been synthesized, is characterized by carrying out the cleaning using an aqueous cleaning solution comprising an alkali metal hydroxide in an amount of at least 1 mass% and lower than 15 mass% and comprising at least one species of a 2C or 3C monovalent alcohol in an amount of at least 3 mass% and not greater than 50 mass%.
