Abstract:
PURPOSE: To coat an alumina substrate with silicon nitride at an extremely reduced cost by completing coating reaction by heating at a relatively low temperature and in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: In a method for coating an alumina substrate with silicon by reacting the alumina substrate with silica under heating in a mixed gas atmosphere of a hydrocarbon gas and an ammonia gas, the reaction is carried out in the presence of boron oxide.
