Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a steel sheet coated by a metal layer having high corrosion resistance, excellent weldability, good deep drawability and ironing properties, and a coated steel sheet.SOLUTION: A method for coating a steel sheet by a metal layer comprises: applying a first thin metal layer as flash coating in coating tanks 2a and 2b; melting the metal layer from flash coating, for example, by a laser 3; and applying at least one of additional metal layers on the metal layer from flash coating until the coating becomes a desired thickness in plating tanks afterwards a plating tank 2c. The maximum thickness of the metal layer from flash coating is limited to 200 mg/cmin order to enhance the corrosion resistance of the coated steel sheet and improve the energy efficiency and cost performance of the coating method. The metal layer from flash coating is melted by an electromagnetic radiation having high energy density.
