Abstract:
PURPOSE: To color an iron product in brown by subjecting an iron product plated by a specified hot-dip plating bath and thereafter treating it by a soln. contg. an oxidizing agent.
CONSTITUTION: The heat treated product of an iron product applied with hot-dip plating by a 0.01 to 1.0wt.% Mn-Zn bath is brought into contact with a phosphate bath and is thereafter treated by a soln. contg. an oxidizing agent. At this time, as the heating treatment, a heating and oxidizing treatment executed in an oxidizing atmosphere is preferable. The heating temp. is regulated to 430 to 600°C, and the heating time is decided by the shape condition of objective Mn oxides, but, it requires 30sec on the high temp. side and ten-odd min on the low temp. side, and preferably, the heating temp. is regulated to 460 to 550°C and the time is regulated to 40 to 300sec. Furthermore, phosphating treament executed as the pretreatment preceding to oxidizing agent soln. treatment is the one to improve its water wettability and atmospheric exposure properties. In this way, the film having high weather resistance to rain water or the like can be obtd. on the surface of the iron product.
