Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify a compressing structure and to execute compression processing at a high speed by deleting the prescribed number of the low-order- number bits of three primary color data for every picture element and compressing picture data. CONSTITUTION:When a compress mode key is pressed, identification code data and a compression flag to indicate that the compression processing is currently executed are added to the head part of still picture data from a picture reader 1, and the picture data for each picture element are compressed, given to a disk device 4, and recorded on an optical disk 4a. The compression is executed by deleting the low-order-side prescribed bits of the three primary color data respectively composed of 8-bit data to compose the picture data for one picture element. When the picture data are to be reproduced, restoration processing is executed for the reproduced picture data in units of picture elements, and the processed reproduced picture data are converted into the 8-bit picture data and displayed on a display device 3.
