To provide a method for concentrating and refining a polyphenol, enabling obtaining a safe product through collecting the polyphenol at a low cost from a polyphenol-containing liquid derived from a plant.
This method for concentrating and refining a polyphenol comprises such processes that a polyphenol-containing liquid is contacted with a styrenic synthetic absorbent to let the styrenic synthetic absorbent absorb the polyphenol (absorbing process), an alkaline aqueous solution as a desorption eluent is contacted with the styrenic synthetic absorbent thus the polyphenol is desorbed from the styrenic synthetic absorbent and also the polyphenol is eluted in the desorption eluent (desorption elution process), and then the desorption eluent is contacted with an ion exchange resin followed by removing impure ions from the desorption eluent (refining process).
