To provide a method for constructing a dirt floor, which can prevent differential settlement after construction.
When the dirt floor 3 is constructed on the ground having a soft surface layer portion, an impervious wall 6 surrounding an area of the construction of the dirt floor is constructed in advance of the construction of the dirt floor. Groundwater is pumped from the inside of the impervious wall so that a groundwater water level inside the impervious wall can be lowered to a natural groundwater level w2 from a natural groundwater level w1. Thus, effective overburden pressure is increased; a preload equivalent to the dirt floor load of the dirt floor after the construction acts on the ground, so as to precedently generate settlement. Subsequently, the construction of the dirt floor is started; and the groundwater level is gradually recovered depending on an increase in the dirt floor load, associated with the progress of the construction. Consequently, the increase of the dirt floor load midway through the construction and a decrease in effective underground stress, brought about by the recovery of the groundwater level, are balanced to inhibit the settlement of the dirt floor after the construction.
