Title:
METHOD OF CONTINUOUS CULTIVATION OF EUGLENA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6137091
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain continuously Euglena cell having a cell concentration close to the maximum cell concentration in batch cultivation method, by making a medium solution flow into a culture tank continuously, retaining it in the tank for a given time, making it flow out as cell suspension.

CONSTITUTION: A sterilized medium solution having 1.2W8.0g/l carbon concentration and 0.07W4.50g/l nitrogen solution in a period within the second day from a stable period wherein number of cells reaches maximum after cell number concentration becomes the maximum after a point of time when the cell number concentration in the middle stage of the logarithmic growth phase of Euglena becomes 5×106 cells/ml is continuously sent to a culture tank. The average retention time of the medium solution in the culture tank is 5W96hr, and Euglena cells are continuously obtained.
