To provide a method for continuously hydrogenating an aromatic nitro compound, performable without forming deposits on the wall and the like of a reactor under such a condition that the continuous reaction is performed with long catalyst-retention time.
This method is a catalytic hydrogenation method for a aromatic nitro compound and comprises including a reaction zone, a separation zone and a peripheral part; wherein the method is characterized by comprising continuously performing the hydrogenating using a catalyst containing at least nickel and optionally aluminum, if aluminum is contained, containing total aluminum of ≤5.5 wt.% based on the catalyst, and holding the catalyst in the reaction zone, the separation zone and the peripheral part for at least three days.
