Title:
METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3500894
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cast a good cast slab having no longitudinal crack without developing breakout, even in the case of continuously casting the kind of steel having high sensibility to cracking.
SOLUTION: At the time of continuously casting the steel, mold flux having 1080-1300°C solidified temp. and 1.05 to <1.5 basicity and containing 2% to <5% each of TiO2 and MgO, is used, and the casting is executed with a mold for continuous casting, having 10-50 μm surface roughness degree on the inner wall surface of the mold over the range of at least each 20 mm in the upper and the lower direction by centering a meniscus. The larger the roughness degree of the contacting surface of the mold with a flux solidified layer is, the thinner the slag rim thickness is. Therefore, even in the case the solidified temp. of the flux is comparatively high, the formation of the slag rim is restrained by making large of this roughness degree and the development of breakout caused by defective lubrication can be prevented.
