Title:
METHOD FOR CONTINUOUSLY CASTING TITANIUM-ADDING EXTRA-LOW CARBON STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3115502
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To industrially and stably produce a titanium-adding extra-low carbon steel having little surface flaw at a low cost by cast ing while electromagnetically stirring molten steel in a mold.
CONSTITUTION: The extra-low carbon steel having ≤0.01wt.% carbon content in the steel and adding a titanium in the range of 0.005-0.150wt.% is continuously cast. Molten steel is cast while electromagnetic ally stirring in the mold. In the case of indicating a degree of micro-segregation with a relative degree of the segregation at the time of showing the max. degree of the segregation of the titanium without electromagnetic stirring as 100, the case of continuously casting while executing the electromagnetic stirring in the mold is reduced to about 15% the max. concn. of the micro-segregation on the surface layer of a cast slab in comparison with the case which does not execute this electromagnetic stirring, and the developing ratio on the surface flaw caused by the oxide scale at the time of heating the slab is reduced. By this method, the yield of the product can drastically be improved.
