PURPOSE: To increase the efficiency for loading single plates with various lengths, by carrying out alternatively the operation wherein the leading ends of single plates are trued up and the plates are dropped to be loaded, and the operation wherein the tailing ends of single plates are trued up and then the plates are dropped to be loaded.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of detectors 4E, 4F are arranged at the terminal edge of a separating conveyor 6, the detector 4E detecting the tailing ends of single plates 1 that are to be passed to a suction conveyor 2, and the detector 4F detecting the leading ends of single plates 1. By the alternative signals of the tailing ends detection signals and the leading ends detection signals of the single plates generated from the detectors 4E, 4F, a striking-down bar 3 is actuated, the actuation of the striking-down bar 3 by the leading end detection signal being delayed by a certain period using a timer (not shown). Accordingly, since the single plates 1 passed to the suction conveyor 2 are dropped and loaded on a pallet 8 with the leading ends and the tailing ends being alternated, collapsing of the loaded single plates would not result in, and the amount of the loaded single plates is increased.
