To prevent warm air from blowing out in a fuel-cut period when an air conditioner is driven by an engine for a vehicle.
Fuel-cut is performed when the engine speed is reduced, and subsequently, when it is judged that the number of revolutions of the engine falls to the first judgement value C, the discharge amount and torque of a refrigerant compressor are once decreased to zero or a value close to zero. Thereafter, they are gradually increased again. The torque control of the refrigerant compressor is carried out in a manner as mentioned above. When it is judged that the number of revolutions of the engine falls to the second judgement value D, the fuel-cut of the engine is terminated, thereby ensuring both the minimum cooling capacity and extension of the fuel-cut time.
