To solve the demerits of conventional technology by a combustion method by which possibility causing rumble can be limited.
A method of controlling the combustion phase of fuel mixture of a spark-ignition supercharging type internal-combustion engine has: at least one cylinder 12 including a combustion chamber 14; at least one fuel supply means 48, 52; and spark-ignition means 38. The method has, in the high loads and low speeds of the engine: determining, during the combustion of the fuel mixture, the value of crank angle θ' by which the maximum pressure in the cylinder Pmax occurs in the combustion chamber; comparing the value, which is thus determined, with a maximum angle threshold value θmax representing an abnormal combustion in the combustion chamber; detecting the start of an abnormal combustion, when the determined value reaches the threshold value and when the ignition means are not actuated; and feeding an amount of another fuel into the fuel mixture, to modify the energy index of the mixture so as to reduce the crank angle by which the maximum pressure in the cylinder occurs.
