PURPOSE: To permit the simple and automatic control of the pH of an aq. soln. to be subjected to pH control by electrolyzing said soln. to increase the concn. of the hydrogen ions thereof.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte 4 is filled in an electrode body 1 and is sealed by a semipermeable membrane 5. An O-ring 9 is used for the purpose of sealing the membrane 5. A counter electrode 3 is immersed into the electrolyte 4 in the body 1 and a working electrode 2 is fixed to the body 1 by using a fixing band 8 by which said electrode is disposed in front of the membrane 5. The body 1 which is held fixed with the electrode 2 is immersed in this state into the aq. soln. 7 to be subjected to the pH control. A negative voltage is impressed to the electrode 2 and a positive electrode to the counter electrode 3 by using a DC power source 6 in succession thereto and the change of the pH of the soln. with time is measured.
