To provide a new method of controlling the continuous pickling line of a steel strip, by which the defective portion of the surface in a repickling treatment is surely and efficiently removed and also inconvenience such as double rolling is surely evaded.
When defects are caused on the surface of the steel strip B during pickling treatment, after interrupting a rolling process and a straightening process, the pickling treatment is again performed to the reversed region of the steel strip B by making the line be reversely operated so that a portion of the steel strip, which reaches the exit of a pickling tank 10 is returned to at least the inlet side of the pickling tank 10, and then making the line be normally operated. Thereafter, when the detected portion of the steel strip B reaches the exit of the pickling tank 10, load application by the rolling process and the straightening process are restarted. In this way, the defective portion on the surface in the repickling treatment is surely and efficiently removed and also the inconvenience such as the double rolling is surely evaded.
