Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stably produce a cast slab having good surface and internal qualities by holding heat conducting quantity in a mold into the objective permissible range in the continuous casting.

CONSTITUTION: In a method for controlling so that the heat conducting quantity in the mold becomes the objective permissible range in the continuous caster, supplying water temp. of cooling water is detected under condition of controlling the flow rate of the cooling water for cooling the mold to almost the constant. A flow rate adjusting valve 7 is controlled with a control device 6 so that this detected value is in the range of 20-40°C, and the drained quantity of the cooling water discharged from the mold 3 is adjusted. The surface temp. of the mold can be held in the permissible range of the objective temp. by controlling the supplying water temp. of the cooling water to 20-40°C.
