PURPOSE: To uniformize the quantity of edge drop in the longitudinal direction by measuring the quantity of edge drop on the outlet side of the final stand of a cold tandem rolling mill line and changing the target quantity between stands by a deviation from the target quantity of cold rolled product.
CONSTITUTION: A material 1 to be rolled is rolled with a rolling mill 21. An edge drop meter 23 is arranged on the outlet side of the final stand of the rolling mill 21. Deviation from the target quantity is determined based on the measured result with the edge drop meter 23 and shift changing quantity of each working roll 21A is outputted to a shifting device 25 with a shift position arithmetic device 11. The quantity of edge drop of the cold rolled product is measured with an edge drop meter 24, deviation from the target quantity is determined and the change of the target quantity is instructed to a shift position arithmetic device 11 with an arithmetic device 12 for target quantity of edge drop. Because high responsiveness can be obtd. by the presence of the edge drop meter 23, the quantity of edge drop is uniformized in the longitudinal direction.
