Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a method for controlling erasure current for positively erasing the area between an outer-periphery stopper and an inner-periphery stopper for each disk of a head disk assembly(HDA).
CONSTITUTION: A change generated at the drive current of a VCM coil 41 is detected by a stopper detection part 7 when a selected head 31 stops at each stopper position and then the erasure current of an IC element to is controlled by detection signals S0 and S1, thus erasing the area between both stoppers. Each disk is erased successively by this kind of erasure method. Therefore, no machining is required inside an HDA and the area between both stoppers can be positively erased in each disk. thus expanding track range and increasing the storage capacity of the HDA.
