Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control swiftly exhaust gas suction quantities in conformity with the operating status of a molten furnace or a preheating status of scraps by moving forward and backward a sliding member with a clearance between a movable duct and a fixed duct when sucking up exhaust gas from a scrap preheating device mounted on the top of a molten furnace.
SOLUTION: In a DC arc furnace, a furnace cover 12 is mounted on a furnace main body 11 while an electrode 13 is inserted into the furnace from the furnace cover 12. A cylindrical body 21 is erected on the furnace cover 12 and an upper fire grate 22 and a lower fire grate 23 are openably mounted inside the cylindrical body 21 while a door 24 is openably mounted in the upper part of the cylindrical body 21. In this case, a movable duct 31 is mounted on the lateral side of the cylindrical body 21 while a fixed duct 41 mated with the movable duct is connected to a dust collection device on the downstream side. Both cylinders 63 and 64 are mounted on the end of a sliding member 51 fitted in the outer peripheral surface of the fixed duct 41 and the sliding member 51 is moved forward and backward, thereby adjusting the clearance between the movable duct 31 and the fixed duct 41.
