PURPOSE: To enable an efficient and positive cleaning of a gasification device to be carried out during a flame extinguishing in a gasification type combustion device having a reserve tank.
CONSTITUTION: A reserve tank 11 is installed in a fuel supplying passage 4 between a fuel supplying pump 3 and a gasification device 2. An opening or closing valve 3-2 is installed in a fuel returning passage 10 extending from the reserve tank 11. In such a combustion device as constructed above, an operation of the fuel supplying pump 3 is stopped at a flame extinguishing mode starting, although a closed state of the opening or closing valve 12 is continued during a time ranging from a starting of the flame extinguishing mode to a time reaching a vacant igniting temperature and the opening or closing valve 12 is controlled to be opened after the temperature reaches the vacant combustion temperature.
