PURPOSE: To provide a movement controlling method for an automatic carrier in an automatic carrying system capable of preventing the generation of a large time loss.
CONSTITUTION: In the automatic carrying system for carrying plural automatic carriers 3A, 3B on a closed loop carrying route 4, the route 4 is divided into plural zones A to F so that only a single carrier 3A or 3B exists in each zone, and if plural carriers 3A, 3B exist in the same zone, each carrier is allowed to optionally move forwards or backwards and the movement of respective carriers 3A, 3B to different zones A to F is restricted only to one direction to travel them. Consequently uniform priority order is applied to respective carriers 3A, 3B, and even if plural carriers 3A, 3B exist in the same zone, they can be carried through the shortest route while evading their collision, so that efficient carrying can be attained and carrying time can be suppressed to a minimum time.
