PURPOSE: To control the concentration of oxygen to a desired value as quickly as possible by dehumidifying the O2-cong. gas to be fed to an electrochemical oxygen separation apparatus at the midway of a deoxidation passage connecting a chamber for controlling the oxygen concn. with the electrochemical oxygen separation apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: An electrochemical oxygen separation apparatus 2 is constituted of a cathode 8 having electrolytic reducing effect for oxygen, an anode 9 comprising an oxygen generation electrode, and a cation exchange membrane or an electrolyte 7 comprising an acid. The apparatus 2 is connected with a chamber 1 for controlling the oxygen concentration interposing deoxidation passages 4, 5 and an oxygen supply passage 6. An oxygen sensor 16 is installed in the chamber 1. When the oxygen concn. in the chamber 1 is higher than a specified value, a water condenser 20 in the passage 4 for feeding gas to the deoxidizer is operated, and the oxygen concn. is reduced by feeding the gas having relatively reduced moisture content to the electrochemical oxygen separation apparatus 2, and when the oxygen concn. is lower, the moisture content is increased.
