PURPOSE: To decrease after-flow and to improve pouring accuracy by providing a lifting stopper which opens and closes a pouring nozzle to a pressurization type pouring furnace for tapping according to a shot pressure and controlling the application of the shot pressure and the lifting of the stopper at precribed timings.
CONSTITUTION: A precribed base pressure is applied to a molten metal, the stopper 8 is held risen and the pouring nozzle 5 of a pouring chamber 4 is held open at the time of standing by. The level of the molten metal 3 is pushed down by applying the precribed shot pressure further to the molten metal to push down the surface of the molten metal 3 and to rise the surface of the pouring chamber 4 so that the molten metal is tapped from the pouring nozzle 5 at the time of tapping. The tapping rate is decreased according to the shot pressure in the case of changing over the tapping to low-rate tapping. The shot pressure applied to the molten metal is eliminated and the stopper 8 is lowered to close the nozzle 5 in the case of stopping the tapping. The after-flow right after the stop of the tapping is, therefore, obviated by using the stopper 8 and the tapping at the exact tapping rate is permitted.
