Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for controlling the position of sound image by which a listener has a sense as if the sound image were moving in the vertical direction.
CONSTITUTION: A measurement signal is emitted to a sound field 1 and a dummy head microphone 6 arranged at a sound filed listening position measures a relative sound pressure level 8 for a critical band of the sound field and a difference between the measured value and data 9 of relative sound pressure level at a prescribed position in the vertical direction of the sound image generated in advance through experiments is obtained. The characteristic of a frequency equalizer 12 is adjusted to cancel the difference and the frequency characteristic of the listening signal 11 emitted to the sound field is corrected by the frequency equalizer. A listener listens to a sound as if the sound image were in existence at the position actually by correcting the relative sound pressure level at the critical region into the relative sound pressure level when the sound image is in existence in the prescribed position in the vertical direction. The listener feels as if he sound image were moving in the vertical direction by changing the correction timewise.
