To provide a split-phase-start single-phase motor which is used for a cutter and where the chattering due to insufficient cutting performance does not occur and which does not cause deformation of a cutter and edge chipping and where there is no risk of reduction of parts life and fire due to generation of spark.
This split-phase-start single-phase motor control circuit controls the drive of a split-phase-start single-phase motor 1 which is equipped with a main coil 4 and an auxiliary coil 5 for start. This is equipped with the first determination means 61 which determines whether the detected current value of the main coil 4 is over the first current value or not after power ON, the first current application means 7 and 7a which apply currents to the auxiliary coil 5 when the first determination means determines that it is over the first current value, after power ON, means 7 and 7a which stop the current application when the determination means determines that the current value is not over the first current value, the second determination means 32, 33, 51-53 which determines whether the detected current value is over the second current value larger than the first current value or not after stop of current application, and second current application means 7 and 7a which apply currents to the auxiliary coil 5 when it exceeds the second current value.
