PURPOSE: To adjust automatically the temp. of reformed gas at the outlet of a steam reformer by adjusting the amount of fuel fed to the reformer in accordance with output obtd. by synthesizing outputs for controlling feedforward and feedback based on the temps. of the inlet and outlet.
CONSTITUTION: Light HC as a starting material is fed to a catalyst tube 15b in a steam reformer 14 through a convection section 15a while adjusting the amount with a flow rate controller 3. Steam is sent to a mixing section 11, mixed with said HC fed 5, heated to a prescribed temp. in a duct in the section 15a, and sent to the tube 15b. A temp. signal showing the temp. of the inlet of the reformer 14 detected 34 is fed 35 to a feedforward controller 26 as an inlet signal, and a signal showing the set value of a feedback controller 25 is fed through a signal line 35 as an input signal. The controller 26 estimates a change in the working conditions of the reformer 14, and it feeds 31 a signal to a modifier 32 so as to adjust the working conditions of the reformer 14 to that desired.
