Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliability improved method for controlling a reverse gear shifting in a transmission having an automatic gear shifting and the step gear shifting mode if a shift sensor fails.
SOLUTION: In the step less transmission having the automatic gear shifting and the step gear shifting mode, a vehicle is regarded as the reverse gear running and a controller 22 controls a reverse gear shifting, only when a reverse switch 20a is switched on by shifting a sub transmission lever 20 into R range and a shift sensor 27 detects that a vehicle is in a reverse running conditions. It is characterized in that the controller 22 can stop the ignition to the engine controlling the revolution so that a predetermined minimum limit is not exceeded regarded as an abnormal operation if a D or L range at the forward side remains indicated by failure of a sensor 27.
