Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an improved method for controlling the operation of a tube expander and an apparatus therefor.
CONSTITUTION: The capability to transmit an adequate signal from one leg 14 to another leg 14 forming a pair with respect to the leg pair within a selected group is tested. Such capability indicates that the legs of such pair are the two legs of the same hairpin tube 19. The legs within the selected group adapted in such a manner are thereafter identified for simultaneous tube expansion by the tube expander. The process is repeated with the tube legs 14 of another selected group until all the legs in a heat exchanger 10 are adapted and are identified for the purpose of simultaneous tube expansion.
