Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling method of a continuous heating furnace for cast slab, by which the temp. in the furnace can be lowered in a short time without damaging the refractory in the furnace previous to removing work of deposited scale in the furnace.
SOLUTION: At the time of removing the deposited scale 10 on the furnace bottom in the continuous heating furnace for steel slab, the air is blown into the furnace after stopping the furnace operation and also, a spray nozzle 23 is inserted and water is sprayed into the deposited scale 10 while observing a dew point to execute the forced cooling in a short time. In this way, the breakage of refractory, etc. caused by the development of dew condensation on the furnace wall 24 can be prevented.
