PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption required for driving a pump for cooling water by accompanying cooling water jetted from spray nozzles with cooling water in a water tank to make them collide against a work roll.
CONSTITUTION: For constructing a water tank 10 by using a part of the surface of a roll 1 for a part of the side wall of the tank 10; a stripper guide 5 is used for a bottom plate, and side boards 6 are provided to the width ends of roll 1 to prevent the leakage of cooling water by bringing the boards 6 closer to the roll 1, and a vertical board 7 is provided to the space between the side boards 6. That is, the tank 10 is installed so that spray nozzles 8 and headers 9 are surrounded by a part of the roll surface, the stripper guide 5, the side boards 6, and the vertical board 7. Another vertical board 11 is provided to the outside of the board 7 to introduce the cooling water overflowed from the tank 10 to the space between the boards 7 and 11. The nozzles 8 are attached to the headers 9 so as to arrange the nozzles 8 zigzag from the roll 1 side view.
