To provide a method for crush-forming a pipe end capable of preventing the occurrence of cracks owing to local elongation of materials, and capable of processing a round part of a V-shaped tip of an approximately ginkgo leaf shaped cross section into a small radius, and a processing jig for crush-forming the pipe end to an approximately ginkgo leaf shaped cross section.

The first jig 1 used in the first press working process includes: a first core bar 4 provided with a convex upper side processing face 41 extended almost along a nearly semicircular upper side part of a pipe end 3a, and a convex underside processing face 42 with middle parts of V-shaped right and left sides 42a, 42a of an approximately ginkgo leaf shaped cross section respectively, inwardly depressed on each side; a first upper die 5 provided with a concave upper side processing face 51 extended almost along the nearly semicircular upper side part of the pipe end 3a; and a first lower die 6 provided with a concave underside processing face 61 with middle parts of V-shaped right and left sides 61a, 61a of the approximately ginkgo leaf shaped cross section respectively, outwardly expanded on each side. In the first press working process, prior to the second press working process for processing the circular pipe end 3a into the final shape of the approximately ginkgo leaf shaped cross section, circumferences of two straight line shaping parts of a nearly V-shaped part in the approximately ginkgo leaf shaped cross section of the pipe end 3a are respectively more elongated than circumferences of the final shape.
