Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the hardness of a cured thermosetting resin by reacting a carbodiimide compd. with an org. polyisocyanate compd. in the presence of a cure catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting resin is cured by reacting an org. carbodiimide compd. with an org. polyisocyanate compd. in the presence of a cure catalyst. Examples of the polyisocyanate compd. are 2,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and hexamethylene diisocyanate. The obtd. cured item has a pencil hardness higher than that of a cured copolycarbodiimide.
