Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method by which oxidation of Cr in molten steel is restrained and efficiency of the decarburizing reaction is improved particularly with respect to top-blowing in the decarburization of a stainless steel.

CONSTITUTION: In the top-bottom combined blowing decarburize-refining method p chromium-containing steel, in the case of injecting oxygen or mixture of oxygen/argon from the top-blowing lance, the ratio h/d of a free jet length (h) of the jet of oxygen or the mixture of oxygen/argon to a diameter (d0) of a nozzle throat part in the lance nozzle is set to 10-150. The oxidation of (Cry) in the molten steel is restrained and the decarburizing-refining of the chromium-containing steel can economically and efficiently be executed.
