Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cesium decontamination method capable of easily performing decontamination even on site, with high safety.SOLUTION: A cesium decontamination method neutralizes and separates cesium adhering to treated objects contaminated with cesium by the action of hydroxide ions (OH), by immersing the treated objects in a cleaning liquid comprising alkaline water having pH9.0 or more, preferably pH10.5 or more. Vibrations of the cleaning liquid during the immersion of the treated objects in the cleaning liquid can improve decontamination effect dramatically. Secondary immersion treatment of the treated objects, which is separated and extracted after the immersion treatment in the alkaline water, in a cleaning liquid comprising acidic water effectively performs neutralization and separation by the action of hydrogen ions (H), thereby increasing the decontamination effect. Any cleaning liquid used by this method may have an ambient temperature and is not required to be heated up to a high temperature for use.
