To provide a method for decorating an ice body with light which enables decoration of an ice body such as an ice figure or an ice board with light having a high effect of presentation, and also to provide an ice skating rink the effect of presentation on which is enhanced with the light.
When ultraviolet light X of near ultraviolet rays is cast downward from above an ice board 1 in a state wherein indoor illumination of an ice skating rink is darkened, the ultraviolet light X is transmitted through an ice body layer 17 and irradiates the surface of a fluorescent coating body 2. Phosphor of fluorescent coating of the fluorescent coating body 2 is excited by this irradiation to emit light and the light is transmitted through the ice body layer 17 and makes the whole of the fluorescent coating body 2 luminous apparently. The ultraviolet light X transmitted through the ice body layer 17 and further through an ice body layer 16 irradiates a phosphor layer 15. By this irradiation, the phosphor contained in the phosphor layer 15 is excited and emits light. The light brought about by the emission from the phosphor layer 15 makes the whole of the surface of the ice board 1 luminous.
