To provide a method for dehydrating ethanol, capable of dehydrating ethanol by a lower investment cost and operation cost than those in conventional technologies.
This method for producing ethanol containing less water content by its dehydration by using a membrane from at least 2 flows of ethanol having different water contents and much water contents comprises the steps of: introducing the ethanol flows having different water contents separately into different membrane units; separating, during the above process, the ethanol flow to the ethanol having a small water content as concentrated liquid and permeated liquid having much water content each time; and uniting the concentrated liquid flows from at least one membrane unit for separating the ethanol flow having a high water content, with a feeding flow and/or at least one of different concentrated liquid flows of at least one different membrane unit for separating the ethanol flow, wherein only the flows having the difference of absolute ethanol concentration by a maximum of 1 mass% are united.
